| Webster House hosts hundreds during Bay County Historical Society’s Tour of Homes |
|
The Webster House was one of several historic homes and businesses that hosted admirers of old architecture during the Bay County Historical Society’s Tour of Homes on Oct. 11. Up to 700 people visited the Webster House during the tour, said Debbie Ingersoll, owner of the Bay City bed and breakfast. The tour featured historic structures throughout Bay City, which is home to stately mansions built in the 1800s by lumber barons and shipping magnates. The Webster House was built for Judge Thomas E. Webster in 1886. “I think tour visitors walked away with the sense that we were not promoting our bed and breakfast, but were sharing our appreciation for old homes,” Ingersoll said. “We continue to promote the fact that these historic, majestic homes can be restored – not just cut up into apartments. We hope to help people rediscover this type of architecture and rediscover Bay City.” For information about future home tours, contact the Bay County Historical Society, (989) 893-5733. |
